–March 2018 Update–
Rolando and Rolando Park residents had a chance to give input at a SANDAG interactive community workshop held on March 1 at the Kroc Center. Attendees were able to view project displays and details, talk with project team members, ask questions, and provide comments about the project for our section of the Bikeway, from College to 70th.

The proposed University Bikeway will provide a vital connection for residents to walk and bike between vibrant communities within San Diego’s urban core – City Heights, Eastern San Diego, and La Mesa. Proposed features include separated bike lanes, buffered bike lanes, high visibility treatments, and protected intersections designed to make the streets more pleasant for everyone – people who walk, bike, work, and live there. The University Bikeway will run along University Avenue, between Estrella Avenue and 70th Street. The proposed bikeway will also provide an important connection to the Howard – Orange Bikeway to the west and an entire network of high priority regional bikeways just beyond.

The current construction schedule shows the bikeway being completed in 2021.
