Summer 2021 status

The area south of Marlowe to Livingston, from 69th on the east to Zena on the west, which was allocated in 2017, has now moved from Allocation to Environmental Planning.

The area north of Billman was allocated earlier this year (2021). Construction will not start there for several more years.

  1. Allocation—The City Council approves the initiation of new undergrounding projects.
  2. Environmental Planning—A required Environmental review process. An underground utility district is created through noticed public hearings to hear from residents and property owners that reside within the proposed utility district.
  3. Design—A predesign meeting will be held to inform property owners and community members about the project and its design considerations. Owners will be able to give input on the placement of utility boxes, streetlights, and other areas where project flexibility remains.
  4. Construction
    • Phase 1 – Trenching or tunneling
    • Phase 2 – Cabling and cutover
    • Phase 3 – Removal from service
    • Phase 4 – Resurfacing, curb ramps, and trees

The minimum timeframe to move from Allocation to Construction is 5 years.
