–November 21, 2024 update–
We have some exciting news about our pocket park at College/College Grove. The fifth grant application turned out to be the magic number. With Groundwork San Diego Chollas Creek leading the effort, we were awarded a grant to transform this neglected, city-owned right-of-way with native trees and plants, decomposed granite landings, and stone swales. It’s going to be an amazing transformation.
We’re still working through the city permit process for the renovation, but we’ll have more information in the next several weeks. We’re excited to get this project started and have an entrance into our community that we can all be proud of.

Rolando Park Community Council and our community partner, Groundwork, have been working for several months on a plan to redesign the entrance to Rolando Park at College/College Grove (aka the pocket park) and install a monument sign.
At our October 2023 meeting, Groundwork presented the redesign of the pocket park and members voted unanimously to move forward with the design. Members also voted on a concept for the monument sign.
As next steps, Groundwork is preparing the site drawings and starting the permit process with the city.
Check back here as we’ll keep you posted as this project moves forward!
