The Glass Orchid

The Glass Orchid has been at its current Rolando Park location almost four years. It’s located in the Rolando Plaza shopping center on the east side, closest to Aragon Drive. The Glass Orchid business is actually 37 years old and was originally in Leucadia. Owner Robbie Santolucito lives close by in Rolando.

The store makes custom stained glass and fused glass, including handcrafted glass gifts. It also sells supplies for making stained and fused glass, including glass gifts and attracts people from many parts of the San Diego area who practice this unique art form and craft.

Robbie teaches glass making classes that are now limited to private group classes of up to four people to allow for COVID-19 social distancing requirements. People in each class should have a close, live-together relationship to limit risk of the virus, i.e.,  parent-child groups. Ages six-seven would be the youngest for such classes and children must be accompanied by a parent. Birthday party classes for children can also be arranged. The store is well-equipped with supplies and kilns.

Robbie can produce a custom piece of stained glass or fused glass for interested customers for themselves or as a gift.

Repairs of stained glass panels, glass lamps, glass sculptures, etc. are another service offered at the Glass Orchid. Robbie will evaluate anything made of glass to let a customer know if it’s worth making the repair.
