From Ellen Mester, board member who leads the annual Holiday Giving Tree Drive with husband Tom:
Holiday Giving Tree
Rolando Park! Only 2 weeks left! We need your help to make sure that every child at Rolando Park Elementary receives a gift from the Holiday Giving Tree. There are 250 students from Pre-K to 5th grade. Each student is represented by one hand on the tree and on that hand they have written a gift they would like. Each gift is between $10 and $20. So far over 200 hands have been given out to members of the community but we have 50 hands left that need gifts purchased before the December 2nd drop off deadline.
This is the third year that RPCC has given gifts to our school. The past two years were so successful because we were able to set up a table at the entrance to Target and give hands to shoppers as they went in. This was convenient for the shoppers because they could pick up the toy while shopping and then drop it off on their way out. Unfortunately this year, Target has a new policy that will not allow us to do that. Our success in giving out hands dropped 90%. In light of this development, the RPCC Board has voted to not continue the Holiday Giving Tree next year.
So PLEASE help us to make this final year a good one for the children at RPE by picking up a hand or giving a donation to RPCC. You can pick up hands at 4127 Vivian St. (which is also where you can drop off the gift) or you can make a donation and we will purchase gifts. RP is a great community! Thank you!
