Are You Prepared for an Emergency?
We are pleased to welcome Daryl Williams, a Rolando Park resident, who is CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) certified in both San Diego and San Mateo counties.
Daryl will be presenting on the four keys to emergency preparedness:
- Make a plan
- Get a pack
- Stay informed
- Get involved
Within those four categories, he will cover the floor plan, a neighborhood plan, a communication plan, shelter-in-place, and an evacuation plan. He will also cover children, seniors, disabled, and unique needs as well as supplies and ways to stay informed.
We hope that this presentation will be the first step in building a community that is prepared to help its neighbors and surrounding communities and to have a fully functional CERT program in place. We want our community to be prepared to deal with any manmade or natural emergency and a community where we all know what to do, where to go, and who to check up on during the next emergency.
Daryl will also have a display table and handouts provided by FEMA and San Diego emergency management services.
Our March meeting is also our annual plant exchange! Be sure to bring your plants if you want to participate. We’ve moved the plant exchange from the fall to spring starting this year to allow plenty of time for spring planting.
