Every January, members suggest priorities for the coming year and then vote on their first, second, and third choices. For most of our priorities in 2019, we will be requesting help from our City Councilmember to identify and secure funding. Here are our 2019 priorities and our RPCC Work Plan:
- Traffic and pedestrian safety – We are requesting that our City Councilmember make this a priority for this coming budget year for streets that were originally designated for traffic calming by Traffic Engineering in 2017.
- Improve Rolando Park Business District – We will also be requesting help from our City Councilmember to find funding to install new trash cans and missing sidewalks on University as well as opportunities for developers and new businesses.
- Increase membership and engagement in RPCC – Look for several community events this year sponsored by RPCC including a Rolando Park/SDPD activity such as “Coffee with a Cop” and a community celebration when construction starts on our joint use park at Rolando Park Elementary. And board member Dan Parker, who re-energized our annual community yard sale last year is committed to an even more successful event this year.
- Missing sidewalks – In addition to University Ave., members identified other streets in the community where they would like to have missing sidewalks installed; for example, 69th St. from Livingston to Waite and Rolando Blvd. Residents will be asked to help identify any other streets so that we can begin the process of requesting funding.
- Undergrounding status for Rolando Park – We’re requesting help from our City Councilmember’s office to identify Rolando Park’s status in the Undergrounding Master Plan. We will have an update at an upcoming meeting.
