On Friday, we delivered the bulk of donated items to Village Green, a few days early because flood victims need help now, not next week.
We’ve had incredible support from our own community and others. Even previous flood victims made generous donations.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated. RPCC was also able to give gift cards to each family to help buy other necessities.
Thanks to our community partners, Regents Pharmacy and US Cleaners & Embroidery for providing space to collect donated items.
Thank you to Michelle, Monica, Lynn, Aaron, Daniela, and Betty for today’s work in getting donations to Village Green and ready for families to pick up.
The last few weeks since the January 1st flooding have been difficult for affected Village Green families. Government support for flood victims is now nonexistent and there was real concern last week that some families would not have any place to stay while waiting for their apartments to be repaired.
Special thanks to Monica, who is an incredible community advocate for Village Green residents and Aaron from Together San Diego, who helped ensure that displaced families would have temporary shelter, reached out for additional supplies, and then showed up today just to help us unload supplies.
So many people stepped up to help and we’re grateful to our community and our community partners.
