Earlier this year, we shared the results of a traffic study that was requested for Waite. The speeds captured during the study (85th Percentile) were not high enough to warrant traffic calming. Speeds have to be 10+ mph above the posted speed limit (25 mph) to warrant traffic calming by SD Traffic Engineering.
We now have the results for three other east/west streets where traffic studies were requested:
Again, none of the speeds in the 85th Percentile warrant traffic calming. The studies do not mean that we aren’t seeing speeding, but indicate that the majority of drivers are following or are close to the speed limit.
